Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport is a charitable pharmacy dedicated to serving low-income and uninsured individuals in the Bridgeport community. A member of the national Dispensary of Hope Network, Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport provides short-term and long-term medication assistance to eligible patients. A licensed pharmacist and trained personnel are available to help you obtain the medicines you need.
What Medications Do We Carry?
The Hope Dispensary has an inventory of the most commonly prescribed medications but it does not stock every medication. We do not carry any controlled substances or birth control. We will work with you to the best of our ability to fill your prescription.
Am I Eligible?
To obtain free prescriptions, individuals must have:
1. No prescription coverage
2. Income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL):

To get started: When you come to the Hope Dispensary for the first time:
1. Ask your healthcare provider if brand name medications are an option for treatment
2. Ask for 2 prescriptions for your long-term medication. 1 for your initial fill (30 day supply, no refill) and 1 for your ongoing needs (90 days, 3 refills)
3. Bring a photo ID or social security card
4. Bring proof of income, such as:
- Pay stub or bank statement
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/ Disability paperwork
- Unemployment or Pink Slip from employer
Open Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Closed 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm for lunch

DIRECTIONS FROM MERRITT PARKWAY (WILBUR CROSS ROUTE 15):
Coming North from Stamford/Norwalk area, take Exit 49 onto Route 8/25 Connector (towards Bridgeport).
Coming South from Hartford, take the Wilbur Cross Parkway, Route 15 to Exit 52 (Route 8/25 Connector towards Bridgeport).
From either direction, take connector to Exit 3 towards East Washington Avenue, at the end of the exit stay to the left on to East Washington Avenue. Continue on to East Washington Avenue over the river through 5 traffic lights. Corner East Washington Avenue and East Main Street turn right then immediately left on Crescent Street. Building and parking lot are on the right.
DIRECTIONS FROM CT TURNPIKE I-95 FROM HARTFORD/NEW HAVEN:
From New Haven I-95 take Exit 29 Stratford Avenue. At the end of the ramp take a right. Go straight under the railroad underpass. At the traffic light take a left onto Barnum Avenue. Continue straight until East Main Street and Barnum Ave. Take left at light. Pass railroad underpass and it is the first building on the left. (Make a left turn on Crescent Street; parking lot is located on the right side.)
DIRECTIONS FROM CT TURNPIKE I-95 FROM NEW YORK:
Get off Exit 28 East Main Street Exit. At the end of the ramp take a left. Continue on East Main Street for approximately 3 traffic lights. Building is on the right just before the railroad underpass. (Make a right on Crescent Street, parking lot is located on the right.)
Members of the Primary Care Action Group (PCAG), a collaboration of area health service organizations whose goal is access to affordable health insurance coverage for all, have partnered with the City of Bridgeport, the State of Connecticut and Dispensary of Hope, a growing national network of clinics and pharmacies, to launch Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport. Ascension Health, the parent organization for St. Vincent's Medical Center and the nation's largest healthcare system, has provided a $160,000 grant to support the project, while the City of Bridgeport and the State of Connecticut have donated the physical space.
In January 2012, the Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF) awarded Hope Dispensary a $15,000 grant to continue to offer free pharmacetuicals to eligible patients in Bridgeport and the surrounding area. The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County.

With PCAG members and Mayor Bill Finch in attendance, Christine Toni, RPh, Dispensary Coordinator, prepares to cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport. The Dispensary opened to the public on April 18, 2011.
"Everyone should have access to medications regardless of their ability to pay," said Jason Dinger, chief executive officer of the Dispensary of Hope. "We are proud to partner with PCAG on this project that will help so many in the community it serves."

Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport opened to the public on April 18, 2011.
